In hindsight, I shouldn't have gone for breakfast on the same day I booked myself in for this Scoopon lunch, especially when (much to my dismay) my metabolism is starting to slow down. I know I've been eating out a lot these last few weeks, but I want to take advantage of the quiet part of the semester. This morning I had one lecture before a 5 hour break, so I decided to drive in for the morning lecture. Since I had the car I thought it'd be a good opportunity to try Twenty & Six Espresso, which is a bit out of the way to walk or get there via public transport. Today I had The Russian: "Vodka & lemon house cured salmon tartare, free range poached egg, dill & lemon creme fraiche, seed & sprout sourdough" ($17.90). Instead of going for lunch today I decided to go for a heavy breakfast at Madame Sousou. I had already decided which item I wanted, which was the Funghi A La Parisienne (toasted brioche w. buttered mushrooms, smashed avocado and goat cheese rondelle) with poached egg ($19.80 + $1.10). Generally when I visit Italian restaurants for dinner my choices are limited to either salad or a large piece of meat. Today I opted for the light option of a chicken salad (Grilled Chicken, Lettuce, Tomato, Olives, Cucumber, Red Onions, Balsamic Vinegar and Extra Virgin Olive Oil, $19.90). The salad tasted OK but the chicken breast was overdone. It was expensive for what it was, but I've come to expect that from salads. After church we went to G2 for lunch, which I think is a relatively new Korean restaurant on Elizabeth St. I wasn't hungry enough to have the bibimbap so I went for a lighter option of seafood soba in soup ($8.90). It came with 2 prawns, 2 mussels and 2 fish cakes. There was nothing particularly good or bad about this one.
