Tonight I undertook a rare adventure to the Western Suburbs to visit Arcadia Gastronomique, where the warm and toasty heating and steamy, mainly Spanish fare was perfect for a cold Winter's night. During its 10th anniversary, owners Luis Pampliega and Tamara Volkoff decided to give the Southgate stalwart Tutto Bene a sibling named Artusi. I was invited by Fuller PR to attend Artusi's launch party. Named after Pellegrino Artusi, they have adopted the ethos 'The Art of Eating and Drinking Well'. Whilst Tutto Bene focused on traditional family meals, head chef Leandro Panza has designed the Artusi menu to serve up modern Italian made with organic produce. After undertaking a AVPN-certified course and work experience in Naples, Dan and Elice have brought their skills back to Melbourne to serve us authentic pizza Napoletana. The site previously housed Pizza Piazza, but after running it for a few months, they've transformed it into MELT in order to capture the market for good quality pizza at not-too-lofty prices. The restaurant had a warm and friendly vibe and was a busy place to be for Sunday lunch; it was still almost full when we left at around 3pm. Thankfully it has a deceptively small shopfront; Pure Italian also has a downstairs area next to the kitchen.
