31 Aug The Train Yard, Heidelberg
Burgundy Street is a hub of local activity for the Heidelberg community. The Train Yard is quite a large cafe and restaurant that extends this friendly, local vibe throughout the venue. It’s a casual place that offers not just a cafe menu, but smoked BBQ meats as well – their smoker stands proudly in their outdoors dining and bar area.
Their Tri-tip Beef Baguette is thinly sliced and tender, combined with seeded mustard sauce, mushroom and onion stew, Monterey Jack and Asadero cheese in a crispy baguette. Fried Chicken and Waffles arrive with crisp and salty sauteed kale chips and maple syrup. There’s a fair amount of chicken on this, and it’s a much bigger meal than we expected.
We recommend ending with the Vanilla Buttermilk Pancakes with chocolate mousse, Nutella sauce, pomegranate, strawberries and strawberry syrup. The soft and fluffy pancakes are moist and delicious.
The Trainyard offers a much wider range of barbecue dishes on their dinner menu – one that I would be keen to try in the future.
