Shop 225, one of my favourites for pizza in Melbourne, recently launched a new menu. Calamaro Piccante is full of spicy and punchy flavours. This satisfying calamari dish is stuffed with breadcrumbs, ‘nduja and potato, and the cherry tomato and olive sauce brings extra tang and salt. For something lighter and less fiery, the Carpaccio could be a good pick.

Pasta and pizza is made on site, and specials are available weekly. The pizza special available during our visit is the Allo Scoglio, topped with stracciatella, swordfish, tuna, calamari and parsley. They’re generous with the toppings, and as expected, the base is pliable and light on the stomach. The pizza didn’t disappoint.

There are a few new desserts in the mix too, including the cooling Semifreddo al pistacchio with hazelnuts, choc and raisins.
