Oko Oko, Carlton

Although Oko Oko serves also rice dishes, their main specialty are their pancakes, which are basically a fusion between Japanese Osaka-style okonomiyaki and pizza. I wasn’t feeling like cheese today, but was really keen on trying the seafood pesto pancake. They allowed the omission of the cheese, though they did say it might not taste as good without it. The squiggles of mayo on top, still provided me with enough moisture and I thought it went quite well with the other flavours. The pancake came in a small, circular hot plate and was a bit oily, but not overly so. The vegetables inside the crispy pancake included the cabbage, carrot, corn kernels and possibly julienned potato. The seafood was cooked nicely and I found the overall dish quite enjoyable.
