13 Nov Earth, Wind & Flour, Elwood
Neatly divided in half, Earth, Wind & Flour looks like a typical takeaway pizza joint on one size, but wander through the doors on the right and you’ll find yourself instead in a cosy cafe-like restaurant to enjoy your eats. The menu spans from the more traditional pizza and pastas, to ones with international influences.
The pork ribs are tender, coated in a sweet and sticky red glaze. We balance this with a superfood salad, which is tasty and textural with all the grains, seeds and nuts inside.
The pizzas have a thick and crunchy base, and are slightly greasy, but not soggy. The meat in the Muglai Lamb is marinated in a mint yoghurt, and accompanied by baby spinach, cheese, chilli, spiced cauliflower, pumpkin and goats cheese. It feels like quite a heavy pizza and we would have preferred there to be something for a bit of refreshment. The Jumping Bean is of Mexican inspiration, topped with black beans, cheese, chilli, ground beef, jalapenos, roasted capsicum and Spanish onion. There’s a definite punch of heat from the jalapenos, and we enjoy the bite of the beans and charred ground beef.
The Prosciutto pizza toppings sound like they could be a salad on their own, coming with Gorgonzola, pear, prosciutto, rocket, tomato and a balsamic dressing. I love the garlic hit in the seafood pizzas, the zestiness is added by lemon and chilli, and juiciness of the tiger prawns and scallops.
Earth, Wind & Flour has just released a new selection of pizzas for summer, and they do half-half pizzas, giving you the opportuntity to have a bit more variety.
