Walking down the stairs we were greeted by a simple, bright green sign displaying ezard's name. As usual, we were provided with bread, which was continually supplied throughout the night. Along with the bread was a parmesan, garlic and rosemary infused olive oil, which could be dipped into one of three accompaniments: a Sichuan pepper-based one, a finely milled sugar and chilli one and another with nori, salt, and a few other things. Our favourite was the nori, but the sugar and chilli one was quite nice as long...

This even was a wedding reception held at the Melbourne Aquarium in the Coral Atoll (room). Each table had a platter of bread (possibly white and olive bread) with a tray of butter and olive oil to accompany it. The entree was either swimmer crab beignets or Caesar salad. I'm not into Caesar salad so I was hoping not to get to get it, but when the plate was placed in front of me I decided it wouldn't be too bad because all the components were separated and the...

Picking off the main menu I chose a dish using my favourite fish, salmon: pan-fried salmon with citrus salad. The fish itself was cooked nicely i.e. not too overdone. The salad may have been lemon or lime juice in it (I forget now), but the main flavour in the salad was from the mint. It also contained mint, chilli slices, french onion and possibly capsicum/sun-dried capsicum. [caption id="attachment_1956" align="aligncenter" width="400"] Pan-fried Salmon w. My first visit to Convent Bakery in the Abbotsford Convent, despite living around the area for 8 years. I ordered the chicken burger in foccacia bread with capsicum sauce, aioli, tomato & guacamole ($13). I swapped out the chips for salad instead. Mum tried one of the specials of the day, which was porterhouse steak ($15). It was quite a busy place, with most people popping in for coffee, bread or other baked goods. I'm guessing quite a lot of their business comes from the office-workers working on Johnston street. I...

A2 had some friends over and mum wanted to give her some privacy, so the rest of us went out for dinner with a family friend. Mum changed her mind about the location a few times but finally decided on No. 8 in Crown. It's a modern Australian restaurant that served mostly seafood. There was a bit of a wait for our food, but it got pretty busy soon after we were seated. Eventually there were a few groups of people waiting at the bar for a table. The...
