25 Feb Babble Bar & Cafe
I hate parking in Prahran, but given the large number of eateries there I can’t avoid it forever. Today we paid a visit to Babble Bar and Cafe, an established business located near the markets. Operating out of a converted weatherboard house, it’s been running for more than 20 years.
There are many options on the menu, but we eventually decide on three items. My baked eggs come with a difference, namely pulled pork and cauliflower. Sounded wonderful on paper, but it doesn’t quite live up to my expectations. There’s an intense tomato flavour in the Napoli sauce with an acidity to match, and I don’t find much pulled pork in the pan.
Dad, however, enjoys his lamb salad – a trio of lamb cutlets cooked to medium, arranged around a tasty salad of cucumber, sweet potato and a punchy vinaigrette. I do love the sweet potato chips too, which are paired with a moreish spicy smoked paprika mayo. Not quite as fat as the menu made them sound, but they are nonetheless crisp and fluffy.
Babble is right next to the Coles carpark and not far from the Prahran Markets, making it easy to drop by.
