Rockpool Bar & Grill - David Blackmore’s Mishima Wagyu Hamburger w. Bacon, Gruyere Cheese and Zuni Pickle ($22)

Australia’s burger revolution has given birth to some standout restaurants

The hamburger has become a worldwide phenomenon with each country and culture taking on its own version. As is the case with much of the food in Australia it has been introduced from another country. In the case of the hamburger, as seen on the HelloFresh history of food, it has arrived from American influence in the 1940s.

Through the years it has developed with a number of different varieties now available not only at fast food restaurants but also at dedicated burger establishments and pubs. Such is the Australian way we have taken the burger and tried to turn it into a gourmet dish. In some cases this has produced delicious results but in others it has simply taken away the essence of a juicy burger squished in a bun. As the Australian burger revolution is now in full swing, let’s take a look at some of the best burger establishments throughout Australia.
