Toto's, the oldest pizza restaurant in Australia, has been expanding. From its origins in Carlton, it's grown to include a small place in South Melbourne, and now one on Bridge Road. The Richmond branch is more of a takeaway place than a full restaurant, but there are still a handful of seats to dine at, and the warm lighting and wooden tables keep things casual....

It's always exciting to try something different in a food-filled city like Melbourne. Named after a scenic island in the Caribbean, Saint Lucia's menu draws its inspiration from Caribbean, Cuban and South American cuisines. Having good drinks as their other focus means there's also a large selection of cocktails, tequila, rum and wine....

There are plenty of hip eateries in Collingwood, but sometimes you just feel like splurging those calories on some greasy American food. Mr Scruffs is just the place for that. Food is ordered at the counter and served in no-frills cardboard boxes. Seats can be hard to come by, especially on Wednesday nights, where food is half price....

One of my favourite new discoveries of the year, Pablo Honey is now just into its fourth menu change, keeping to its promise of seasonality. It's a quiet street, mostly occupied by apartment blocks and Melbourne High a bit further north, but a stone's throw away from South yarra station is Sth Central, an 8-month old eatery, and the first restaurant from the Tommy Collins group. Sth Central has separate breakfast, lunch and dinner menus, which includes dishes from their Inka charcoal oven from lunchtime. For dinner, there's a large selection of starters, mains and sides to mix and match, though there's a particular focus on proteins....
