05 Apr Zanini Pizzeria, St Kilda East
St Kilda East is the second location for Zanini, which is known for its pizza. It’s only 4 weeks old, but takeaway and Uber orders are already flying out the door.
Zanini does more than just pizza though. Arancini have a nice and crisp coating, and the Parmigiana di Melanzane has plenty of layers of eggplant and cheese, and a rich tomato flavour. The rice in the Risotto alla Boscaiola is cooked al dente and comes with mushrooms, truffle pesto, Italian sausage and pecorino romano. Given their reputation for their pizza, there were high expectations. The Marinara didn’t let us down. The pizza base is stretchy and has a nice flavour to it, and it’s topped with a great selection of fresh seafood including prawns, pipis, mussels and baby octopus.
Chocoholics will appreciate the richness of the Cuore Di Cioccolato (dark chocolate souffle), and coffee lovers will delight in the strong notes of coffee in the Tiramisu.
Zanini isn’t just for locals – worth a visit if you’re in the area.
