05 May Toorak Tracktor, Armadale
Nestled within the Toorak Park development right next to Toorak station, is a new cafe and emporium called Toorak Tracktor. Products and fresh produce are up for sale, sourced from local businesses. Fresh, sustainable and local produce is also the main driver of their food menu, and to keep in line with this, their menu is changed up every week.
The freshness of their produce is quite apparent when it’s all on display in simple dishes like Heirloom Doncaster tomatoes, San Danielle prosciutto, Shaw River buffalo mozzarella, basil, Zeally Bay seeded sourdough and poached eggs. Slow Braised Beef Ragu, roasted shallots and kale are paired with house-made porcini gnocchi. The dish is rich and flavoursome, and we’re glad it comes with bread so we can mop up all the sauce. Their San Danielle prosciutto and gruyere croquettes are absolutely mouth-watering. The coating is crisp and they’re packed with flavour – highly recommended if they’re on the menu.
Pastries are brought in daily by Penny for Pound, and muffins are made in house. There’s plenty of covered seating outdoors, but even if you don’t have time to sit down and enjoy a meal, there are sandwiches and salads available to-go.
