Taiwan Cafe, Melbourne CBD

Came here for a quick dinner before a church event. The restaurant was already pretty full when we arrived at around 6pm. I was tempted by the o chien (oh chien? [oyster omelette]), but the serve looked a bit small for dinner and it also looked drier and more eggy than those I’d normally see in Malaysia. Instead, I got three-cup chicken. The waitress warned me that it wasn’t served in broth like it showed in the menu picture, but because I wasn’t going to eat much rice it didn’t bother me.

I didn’t take a photo, but there were two large drumsticks chopped into 2-3 pieces and some wombok. I don’t think I’ve had three cup chicken before so I can’t really comment much on its taste compared to other versions. There was some basil as well as a strong aniseed flavour.
