27 Sep St Domenico, Richmond
I like having a mental list of restaurants that do Napoletana-style pizza (my favourite style). Lucky for me, St Domenico is one such place that’s also close to home.
I chose the Salsiccia pizza for its unfamiliar combination of pork and fennel sausage, roasted apple, fior di latte, sage and balsamic. It was a good choice, as the ingredients worked so well together. It’s not just pizza they offer either. We also enjoyed very generously portioned bruschetta, and an incredibly flavoursome Linguine di Mare. Dessert was the Calzone Fragola – a giant calzone filled with chocolate and strawberries. We were pleased to find it wasn’t sickly sweet, and the chocolate to dough ratio was perfect for us.
It was a very satisfying meal, even as takeaway. I’d imagine the food would be even better when enjoyed fresh in-house! Hopefully the time for that is not too far away.
