Shop 225 is the result of good friends Lorenzo Tron and Roberto Davoli finding themselves in a regular dilemma. It’s hard to find a place where vegan and gluten-free friends can all enjoy a good meal together with those that don’t have dietary restrictions.
Pizza dough is leavened for 72 hours, resulting in a lighter, easier to digest base. Surprisingly, there are plenty of vegan and gluten-free options available, and their vegan cheese is house-made.
Their menu is predominantly comprised of wood-fired Neapolitan-style pizzas. Both the Bianca Gamberi and Il Dottore pizzas feature beautifully risen, bubbly crusts and thin centres. There’s a generous amount of topping provided, yet the ingredients don’t overwhelm the crust. The prawn, pancetta and stracciatella combination of the Bianca Gamberi is my personal favourite.
Shop 225’s version of Tiramisu does not disappoint, and their vegan Canoli option contains a vegan chocolate filling that tastes almost like Nutella, but without the over-the-top saccharinity. Yum.
Finally we’ve found a pizzeria that caters for different dietary needs, but also satisfies the serious pizza-lover.
