Sardi, Hawthorn

I’ve driven past Sardi many times, seen how busy it was and for some reason initially thinking it was a small Italian restaurant. Eventually I came to realise it was actually a cafe, and decided to pop by on one of my free days.

It’s small and tight inside, and busy but cosy. You know you’ve got a good thing going when all sorts of people, young and old, are walking through the doors. There’s a healthy bent to the all-day breakfast and lunch menu. Superfood breakfast bowls, a number of smoothies, and a selection of daily salads sit alongside the other menu options. The water provided on the table is flavoured with citrus, which is a nice touch.

Looking to try something a bit healthier, I order the acai smoothie bowl with coconut, toasted buckinis, muesli and seasonal fruit. Rows of colourful fruit and other bits of crunchy deliciousness are layered atop a cold and refreshing acai smoothie. I particularly love the added bite from the toasted buckinis.

Its tasty-looking menu, easy parking and close proximity to home means Sardi is another cafe I’ll be adding to my list of local go-tos.
