04 Dec Machi, St Kilda
Soon there’ll be a whole lot of new things to discover at Machi. Their summer menu is coming in soon, together with a refreshed interior.
As usual, their seafood is of high quality and its freshness really shines. There’s nowhere to hide when the seafood is under the spotlight in dishes like sashimi, scallop and crab crackers, and in their range of Machi Tacos. Always a crowd favourite, the taco menu has a few new additions like lobster and tuna & pork floss.
Some of their newer dishes include the Uni-Man Kiwani – steamed squid ink bun with Alaskan king crab and spanner crab meat and fresh uni. Everything from the sauces and the buns are made in house.
Although there is a lot of seafood to be found at Machi, other mains such as Wagyu Ishiyaki are sure to please. Nothing like cooking your own scotch fillet on a hot stone. A highlight of the new menu is the Machi Seafood Paella. A range of seafood – calamari, prawn, crab and pipis – are cooked in a claypot with rice and a delicious rich broth that takes over half a day to make.
It’s always a pleasure returning to Machi. The food is consistently good, and it will be exciting to see how the fresh interior adds to the space.
