20 Dec ISH, Fitzroy
Contemporary Indian is hard to come by in Melbourne, but ISH hopes to fill that void with style. Opening late 2018, ISH boasts a sleek and dark interior and an enticing menu.
You might begin with the almost bite-sized Sambar Arancini with tempered coconut and tomato relish, or the crunchy Amritsari tempura prawns with daikon salad, mint and yoghurt chutney. Tandoori lamb cutlets exhibit a nice char and the tender meat is paired with dill turnip mash. Slow cooked home-style Kerala beef curry and crisp and buttery malabari parantha is comfort in a bowl, and the Butter-poached Scallops with south Indian coconut ‘moillee’ curry is one that you’ll want to order rice for. In a refreshing change, the desserts at ISH aren’t super sweet. The ISH deconstructed chocolate mess is our recommendation for a rich conclusion to a meal.
