13 Dec Glace, Windsor Take 2
Christy Tania opened Glace in August, and after discovering it was quite popular for morning coffee runs, she decided to open for breakfast too. Using traditional French techniques, she’s created a French-leaning breakfast menu that’s mainly on the sweet side.
The menu features plenty of brioche, and of course, sorbet and ice cream. Imagine French Toast Soldiers, Croissant Burgers, Bircher that’s pimped with sorbet/ice cream, and a massive Glacé Croque Madame that spills forth rivers of egg yolk. For a bit of everything, there’s also the Glacé Breakfast Board with toasted brioche soldiers and feta crumb, half an avocado, clacked 65 degree egg, French butter d’Isigny and candied bacon strips.
Her Charcoal Soufflé Pancake is decorated with a few scoops of seasonal fruit sorbets, maple syrup and French butter d’Isigny. The ice cream seems to go better with the airy, puffy pancake than the sorbets do. Their Warm Savoury Madeleines, available as a box of 12, are baked to order and best eaten fresh within 15 minutes of baking.
My favourite item of the breakfast menu is the Banana Bread. It comes with a cinnamon almond crumble, caramelised banana in brown sugar, freshly whipped vanilla chantilly cream, banana ice cream and peanut butter. The flavours are great and well-balanced. It is quite rich though, and definitely one for sharing.
Glace’s Sweet Breakfast menu offers filling options that are not over-the-top fancy. While you’re there, you may as well pick up an ice cream cake too!
