03 Apr Gelato Messina, Fitzroy Take 3
Another trip to Gelato Messina! The pandan and coconut sorbet (unsurprisingly) tastes like kaya, so if I were ever having a craving for kaya that’s what I’d get. Gianduia Bianco (white chocolate & hazelnut gelato with hazelnut praline), was quite nice too, but I think if I ate a whole scoop of it I’d feel it was too sweet. Looking at the specials board, I initially thought I’d like the Black Forest the most (Chocolate Fondant Gelato With Kirsch Cream, Cherry Jam And Kirsch Soaked Chocolate Sauce), but when I tried a sample I didn’t like that much. Possibly because I didn’t notice how many cherry-flavoured things were in the description. There was also an interesting special flavour today: Porky’s Revenge – Maple Syrup Gelato With Bacon Maple Gel And Blueberry Pancake Batter.
In the end I had coconut and lychee and Number Two (Peanut Butter Gelato w. Chocolate Brownie And Dulce De Leche). The texture of the refreshing coconut and lychee gelato was nicer, similar to the pear and rhubarb I had last time, but I preferred the stronger flavours in Number Two. It may have had something to do with the cooler weather of late. If I had to compare Number Two and Peanut Pretzel Brownie, I still think I like Peanut Pretzel Brownie better.
