30 May Chacho’s, Windsor
Chacho’s brings Mexican vibes to Chapel St with its bar and pizza offerings. They have a great selection of tequilas and tequila cocktails like the Jalapeno Marg with chilli tequila, jalapeno, cucumber, lime, agave and chipotle rim, or for something smokey, the Silk & Smoke with vida mezcal, basil agave, lime, grapefruit and aquafaba.
Mains can be preceded by small plates including Elote, which come with a tasty chipotle aioli and the spicy Jalapenos, which are grilled and stuffed with a gentle flavoured cream cheese for balance. The Chachos Nachos are a great choice as a more substantial starter, and are particularly good with the addition of chorizo.
Pizza combinations come courtesy of ex-Lazerpig chef Dan Pegg. The Whole Hog (pork & fennel sausage, crackling sprinkles, mozzarella, caramelised onion, ricotta dollops) has a hint of sweetness, and there’s also the tangy Holy Mole (mole base, mozzarella, shredded slow cooked pork, coriander, pickled red onion, lime). Our favourite is the Del Toro, not because of the novelty factor of having corn chips on pizza, but because the flavours of the toppings go so well together, and the chips add a great crunch.
