Bibelot: a small object of curiosity, beauty or desire. There are plenty of beautiful small objects here, though they’re not ones you’d admire with your eyes only. Bibelot is s an offshoot of Chez Dre, a café whose desserts were so popular that the owners decided it was time to expand. A dessert boutique, Bibelot includes a patisserie, gelateria, coffee bar and chocolate shop. Today’s a time of celebration, and instead of marking the occasion with a birthday cake, we order a Gourmandise Board to indulge in at home....

Chefs Shaun Quade (formerly of Royal Mail Hotel, Quay, Biota Dining and Urbane) and John-Paul Fiechtner (Bo Innovation, Hong Kong, and Le Chateaubriand, Paris) intrigued us with their pop-up preview before the official opening of Lume, and successfully excited their audience with thoughts of what was to come. Old Mates Pizza & Pasta is a small pizza and pasta shop mainly catering to takeaway and delivery, though there are a handful of tables both inside and outdoors. I tried the House Special with fettucine, which consisted of chicken, bacon, spring onion, pesto, and pine nuts with cream and Napoli sauce. There was a generous portion of bacon and pine nuts, though I would have liked...

Maker of the famous South Melbourne Market gozleme, and parent of Göz City in the CBD, Koy has a prime location from which to serve its Turkish fare. The setting was warm and inviting, with dimmed lights and homely decor. It was actually smaller inside than I had expected; the bar taking up much of the floorspace and smaller tables arranged around it. There were quite a number of covered tables outside, but it was too cold and dreary today for them to be enticing. We took a seat...
