BurgerBurger is a local burger joint on the shopping strip on Union Road, family owned and operated by Nesh and Leena Rakhra. The warm, comfortable interior has a mixture of tables and bar seats, both at front windows, and at the back past the stoves. I did make the mistake of sitting near the windowed dishwashing room, and experienced the fragrance of dishwashing detergent mixed in with my burgers…so maybe avoid sitting there.

Slider Trio $20 – Simply Surrey Cheeseburger, Cam-baa-baa-well, Chicky Canterbury – Southern-style crispy buttermilk chicken, Swiss cheese, dolce-sriracha, mayo, slaw, brioche ($20)

I’m indecisive, so the slider trio was perfect for me. The set comes with mini versions of three of BurgerBurger’s popular items: Chicky Canterbury, Cam-baa-baa-well and the Simply Surrey Cheese Burger. The Simply Surrey was a good, basic burger consisting of a wagyu patty, cheddar and BurgerBurger Sauce. As one might guess from the name, the Cam-baa-baa-well comes has a lamb patty. It’s seasoned with roasted cumin and coriander, and paired with grilled halloumi, beetroot, cos, tomato, grilled onions and their BurgerBurger Sauce. The best of the three for me was the Chicky Canterbury with its Southern-style crispy buttermilk chicken, Swiss cheese, dolcè-sriracha mayo and slaw. It was peppery and crisp.

BurgerBurger does a booming phone order and delivery trade and is conveniently located a short walk away from Surrey Hills station. Gluten-free buns are available, and pop in on weekdays before 5pm to grab a Simply Surrey with fries for only $10.
