Allium, Malvern

For a long-awaited and much-needed catchup, Allium seemed like the perfect place. Having previously tried Livingroom, I was pleased to find the ambience was still very much like it was previously – nice but relaxed.

K had the Aromatic Broth entree to start the meal. Unfortunately I didn’t try too much of it because I was unwell, but it seemed clean and flavoursome. K did say it was very good.

For the main event I was tossing up between chargrilled wagyu rump cap and smoked lamb. In the end I settled with the wagyu, which came with potato puree and black garlic mustard. The wagyu was nice and the black garlic mustard provided a very robust and punchy flavour, but the lamb was even nicer. Admittedly I didn’t taste a lot of it, but from what I had, there was a delicate interplay of flavours and I particularly liked the olives with the tender lamb.
