Wagaya is a restaurant chain from the same group that brought us Sushi Hotaru and to celebrate its opening, it was offering 50% off the whole menu. Wagaya is also located in Mid City Arcade and it's accessed via elevator through to level 3. The restaurant spans two levels with the lower level filled with private booths and the upper mezzanine level having a mix of both booths and open table seating. As the restaurant got busier with eager bargain-hunters the noise level rose and echoed through the...

Today we took a trip out to try some Middle Eastern food, which is not a cuisine I'm too familiar with. The food items were divided into three sections on the menu, corresponding to the three different serving sizes of sharing plates. For the two of us, we chose one medium-sized dish, the BBQ lamb ribs, and two larger plates of quail 'Joojeh' kebab al-sikbaj and khoresht ghalieh mahi (South Iranian fish stew). The lemon rice was also done very well and the fish in the madras curry tasted quite fresh. We did...

After undertaking a AVPN-certified course and work experience in Naples, Dan and Elice have brought their skills back to Melbourne to serve us authentic pizza Napoletana. The site previously housed Pizza Piazza, but after running it for a few months, they've transformed it into MELT in order to capture the market for good quality pizza at not-too-lofty prices. MELT has a very nice, modern fit-out including an open-air courtyard area at the back and also a more private room, which would be great for gatherings. Their concept was 'down-the-line'...

The restaurant had a warm and friendly vibe and was a busy place to be for Sunday lunch; it was still almost full when we left at around 3pm. Thankfully it has a deceptively small shopfront; Pure Italian also has a downstairs area next to the kitchen. It doubles as a small store, offering a selection of cakes, small goods, antipasto and other various Italian food products for sale. Menus are written up on the board and today it included a selection of two entrees, about 10 mains...
